Reminiscing, the one year on active duty was a piece of cake. As the army expression went, "could do it standing on my hands." The same could be said about the six years serving in the active reserve. I thought about it as two weeks JD Truck Training Centre at a beach resort without maid service. What was stark in my mind, that while in the reserves during the Korean War I did not get called back to active duty. I did not suffer the irreversible consequences of going to war.
How long does it take to get certified? Depending on the school, it could take about 90 days. It varies from school to school. In good schools, there is the desk classes and then time on the road.
Professional truck drivers are required to obtain a CDL - a commercial copyright in order to maintain truck driver jobs. To get a CDL, you must take a test at your local DMV, which consists of a written portion and a driving portion. Though schooling is not required, it is highly recommended you attend a Truck driving school before you take the test so you can receive proper training to help you pass.

If you don't like your experience and the students coming out of the school aren't satisfactory to the companies they go to work for then the school is going to die a long, slow death. Nobody will HR Truck Licence want to attend. So they will get straight to work filling you with information.... and tons of it.
Now that you know how much it costs for tuition, you should also consider other costs like financing, room and board or hotel stays, transportation to the school, amenities etc. Be conscious of the numbers game. It truck driving school might be $5000 for one school all-inclusive and $4000 for another but you still have to pay for hotel. That makes them the same. So you really have to evaluate the schools and do your due diligence.
All in all we know that you can make a lot of money trucking. At first you will be running right along with the school of hard knocks. But as you go along with it and learn from your mistakes you will become a pro. Trucking will become second nature to you as you already have met the CDL requirements.
